certificate of astrology - age diploma - honours diploma

Examinations & Qualifications

Any student may undertake a Guild exam regardless of whether they have a teacher or whether their teacher is a Guild member.

Exam Information is available as PDF files and can be downloaded from this site.

The Guild currently offers the following examinations:

International Certificate of Astrology

The Certificate of Astrology is a prerequisite for any advanced astrological education or qualifications. This is the first level of qualification and the Guild recommends that a student undertake two years of study before attempting this exam.

A copy of the Syllabus and a set of Frequently Asked Questions are included in the document Certificate Exam Information. This can be downloaded free of charge and is in PDF format (requires Acrobat Reader.)

Read the syllabus carefully as it can be used as a guide to check any weak or missing areas in your astrological knowledge.

Perhaps a discussion with your educator can help to accentuate any areas where you feel you need added information or further work.

You may also like to look at a sample exam to help you with your preparation.  The Certificate Exam comes in two parts: Part 1 is a supervised paper of approximately 3 hours and Part 2 is made up of several essays. The documents Certificate Exam Sample Part 1 and Certificate Exam Sample Part 2 can be downloaded free of charge and are in PDF format.

Applying to sit for the exam is also easy. Download the Certificate Exam Application and return together with the fee to the Exam Secretary by the date stipulated.

Exam Dates

Currently, this exam is held on the second Saturday of November every year.

A Supplementary Exam is available the following January for those candidates who do not gain a pass mark in either Part 1 or Part 2

AGE International Diploma

The Guild’s professional qualifying exam is the Diploma and is undertaken after a recommended four years of study.   Successful candidates are then entitled to use the Guild's Imprimatur.

Students sitting for the Guild’s Diploma Exam must meet one of the prerequisite of previous astrological study options as follows:

  • Option 1: hold a Guild Certificate of Astrology for a minimum period of two years have been studying the Diploma syllabus either with a Guild member or on their own.

  • Option 2: hold an equivalent certificate stating they have completed a two year course of study in astrology and passed an examination.  The candidate must submit a copy of the certificate issued as well as details of the certifying body to the Guild Council, together with their application.

  • Option 3: if a student holds no formal acknowledgment of study, they may apply to undertake a Prerequisite Assessment.  The assessment is not a qualification but allows the student to sit for the Diploma Examination.  Details of this are available from the Exam Secretary.

Students may undertake the Diploma Exam in two ways:

  1. As a Continuous Assessment Student

A Guild Educator may partially examine the student during the two years of the student’s preparation for the Guild Diploma.  This part of the examination will consist in setting four Guild approved assignments.  The four assignments will make up a total of 25% of the student’s final mark for the Diploma paper.  These students will only need to undertake three sections of the Diploma paper.

  1. As an External Student

This is the student who is either self-taught or studying with a non-Guild educator.  The student will apply to undertake the Diploma Exam as an External Student and will need to complete four sections of the Diploma paper.

A student of a Guild educator may choose to enroll in the exam as an External Student

Information about the syllabus, format and other frequently asked questions are available in the document diploma information which can be downloaded free of charge.

A sample of the Diploma Exam is also available in the document diploma sample exam which can be downloaded free of charge.

Currently this exam is held in late October every year.
